Chinese Sign Language and Culture
Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) created the beginner-friendly online course Chinese Sign Language and Culture, which is available through FutureLearn. The course explores the history, culture, identity, and day-to-day activities of China’s Deaf people while introducing students to Chinese Sign Language (CSL). In addition to gaining knowledge of Deaf culture, inclusion, and cross-cultural communication, students acquire fundamental CSL vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skills.
